The original image was quite satisfying already but lacked the sharpness of the dog fur burnt into the sunlight. Many steps were needed to reveal the dog's hairs, rebalancing contrast and highlight with a light vignetting around the dog's final as a final touch.
Although subjective, the improvement of this photo is highlighting how much can be recovered from details with help of clipping mask indications.
Happy dog standing next to my shoes, sticking its tongue out and smiling in front of the camera.
